The UK’s experimental death metal duo Mithras recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a vinyl release of their third album, Behind The Shadows Lie Madness, originally released on CD in 2007 via Candlelight Records, along with some re-presses of some of their classic t-shirts with artwork by Desmond Sia from their crushing debut album, Forever Advancing……. Legions, released way back in 2002.

The band’s Leon Macey comments: ‘It’s great that we’re over halfway now, and hopefully we can gain enough support from the legions of metalheads out there to put this vinyl into production. As well as making a really collectable edition of our third album, the larger format gatefold sleeve will really do Dan Seagrave’s amazing artwork justice.”

And in response to the short film that promotes the campaign, in which MC Hammer, Rick Astley and The Village People all play a supporting role, are the duo guilty of crimes against metal? How does Macey plead? “Guilty!”

In other news, the band are nearing the completion of their fourth album, On Strange Loops, which is due to be finished later this year. The band have made a series of off-the-cuff video diaries whilst the album has been in the making, and these can be viewed via their YouTube channel.
