Sweden’s self-appointed ‘suicidal black metal’ merchants Shining have signed a deal with Season Of Mist to release their newest album in early 2015.
This will be the band’s ninth full-length album, following on from 2013’s 8 ½ – Feberdrömmar i vaket tillstånd. Having been through quite a few members over the years it appears Niklas Kvarforth has finally settled on a fairly stable lineup to work with on this next piece of work.
In a statement he (modestly *cough*) said: “After a long period of negotiations and discussions that lasted almost eight years, I have now chosen to grant Season Of Mist the privilege of releasing the next Shining album. We have also once again decided to work with Andy La Roque and record at his Sonic Train facilities. The ceremony is set to begin in September, and thus my ninth child can be expected in early 2015.
“It has cost us a lot doing what we do, but it has all been worth it. We are now a fantastic constellation that is able to put on the kind of show that I’ve been striving for since the very day I gave birth to this sick child of mine nearly two decades back.”
No further details have been announced but it can be assumed, as with their previous eight albums, that this newest release will be made up of just six songs yet again. And of course be built around a negative/depressing concept.
Shining will be appearing on The Temple stage at Hellfest in June.
