Burzum, one of the most inspiring and controversial metal bands of all times, return with album number 12. The Ways Of Yore will be out on 2 June 2014.
Varg Vikernes is one of those restless human beings. His pursuit is to discover his ancestral roots and bring them to life once more. In this pursuit he has employed music, books and movies. The new Burzum album, the follow-up to 2013’s Sôl austan, Mâni vestan is now ready. Inspired by Varg’s take on European history and evolution, The Ways Of Yore “is similar in style to Burzum’s pervious ambient albums, but differ in both style and vocal expression. A mix of haunting story telling channeled through distinct vocals combined with Burzum musical genius makes The Ways Of Yore a very interesting and innovative sounding album with mass appeal to Burzum fans”, the press release informs us.
Varg himself says: “ The Ways Of Yore is my first step towards something new, which at the same time is as old as the roots of Europe. With The Ways Of Yore I try to transport the listener to the days of yore, to make them feel the past, that is still alive in their own blood.”
