Ladies and gentlemen, the headliners to this year’s Obscene Extreme Festival have been announced: Possessed! The festival is held on 16-20 July 2014 at Trutnov, Czech Republic.
Obscene Extreme brings together the brightest artists from all sides of the heavy, nasty, extreme sound; be it grindcore, death metal, punk, thrash or doom metal, if the band is good chances are it will appear there. “Without death metal’s founding fathers, Possessed, Obscene Extreme would be a very different festival indeed” the organisers say. Hence, it makes perfect sense that Possessed will headline the festival, which hosts other colossal names such as Master, Immolation and Doom.
Following their break-up in 1993, Possessed reformed in 2007 around the original singer Jeff Becerra. The band currently consists of members from Coffin Texts and Occisas and, according to the festival’s press release, they are working on new material! Obscene Extreme 2014 may well be when and where this new material will be aired for the first time…
Also joining the festival bill are San Diego’s Cattle Decapitation. The organisers seem very happy with the fact: “Obscene Extreme organisers are proud to welcome the US powerhouse who will take their razor-wire brand of technical death/grind back to Trutnov, Czech Republic to pick up where they left off… filling the pit with teeth, blood and bones.”
