October File to feature in zombie movie!

UK noise rockers October File are to appear in ‘Zombie Driftwood – Tourists From Hell’, the new movie by Emmy Award winning director Bob Carruthers. Bob Carruthers is reportedly a huge fan of the band and thinks the track ‘Falter’ from the band’s highly acclaimed and recently released ‘Our Souls To You’ album (Candlelight Records) is *the* track for the movie. “I recently saw the band live with Fear Factory and they blew me away,” comments Bob. “‘Falter’ just suits my movie so we started talking to them and have now got the band written into the movie, I am very happy to have them in the film, it should be great fun having them play to 200 odd zombies”. As well as playing their track, the band will have to do some acting too as their scene involves them turning up for a Battle Of The Bands competition where they end up becoming zombies themselves. Nice. October File bass player Steve Beatty commented: “It all looks like great fun. We go to the Caymans to film and get a sun tan, drink beer and get eaten! What could be better?!”

‘Zombie Driftwood – Tourists From Hell’, the 75 minute-long film follows a small group of people fighting off marauding zombies who get to the Cayman Islands on a mystery cruise ship that shows up with no one on board – or at least, no one alive. “What I liked was this idea of the cruise ship that disappears in the Bermuda Triangle and appears in North Side with no passengers. There are lots of opportunity for satire, like zombies in Hawaiian shirts and shorts,” explains Bob. “It follows all the conventions of the genre. People get trapped and besieged. Although the film is about zombies and people being bitten and killed, it also promises plenty of comic relief.”

The film makers plan to have the zombie flick ready for release in the UK and US in October, in time for Halloween, and to be selling it to the international TV market at MIPCON in Cannes, also in October. “Provisionally, we’re looking at Saturday, 25 September for a screening in Cayman,” says the director. Alongside Bob Carruthers as Producer is David McWhinnie who produced ‘Obseldia’, winner of the award for best Cinematography at this year’s Sundance Festival.

Candlelight Records will release the full soundtrack CD. Music from the following acts will also be used in the movie as incidentals: Emperor, Divinity, Altar Of Plagues, Blood Of Kingu, Anaal Nathrakh, Nachtmystium, Wodensthrone, Gnaw Their Tongues, Winterfylleth, Demonic Resurrection, Woe and Abigail Williams.
