DEPHOSPHORUS’ NEW TRANSMISSION

Dephosphorus, astrogrinders from planet Earth, are releasing their new album Ravenous Solemnity in the first week of February 2014. The band’s second full-length shall be among us courtesy of 7 Degrees Records and Handshake Inc.

Dephosphorus were formed in Athens, Greece in 2008. Their first strike came in the form of Axiom mini-LP in 2011 and they have already built an impressive CV since –in size as well as in quality. Ravenous Solemnity comes as gatefold double vinyl, spanning a colossal (for anything grind-related) 43 minutes. A digital version will be available to download for a reasonable fee at the Dephosphorus’ bandcamp page, while a cassette and possibly a CD version will follow at some point.

This is the first recording of the band not to feature drummer Nikos Megariotis (Injekting Khaos). The drums are now pounded by John Votsis (Ravencult, Thou Art Lord, and others) who brings more of a death metal flair to the music. The band comments: “John is one of the most talented and dedicated musicians of the local Greek scene. He has been instrumental in making Ravenous Solemnity Dephosphorus’ most intense and majestic effort to date.”

With Ravenous Solemnity, Dephosphorus take a further step into unexplored territories. What are their future plans? “With Dephosphorus’ personnel split between Sweden and Greece, we are still not planning any live shows but we remain more dedicated than ever in challenging ourselves and the underground audience. A split with our excellent Finnish comrades Haapoja approaches completion and will be released later this year.”
