With the ZT sponsored Mammothfest returning to destroy Brighton after a lengthy hiatus, we thought it was a good tome to catch up with organizer Steve Dickson to share his thoughts:
Personal thoughts: “Ah man, do I, don’t I bring Mammothfest back? 3 years toiling with the idea and I can say with utter conviction it was completely the right move for us as a brand and for the music scene. I am incredibly moved by the overwhelming response we have received since we announced our return!
Things have gone from a two day event (Ingested, Savage Messiah, Martyr Defiled, Meta-stasis, Abhorrent decimation, Basement torture killings and so many more) to also now at least 10 Mammothfest warm up shows and
2 Mammothfest sponsored tours (including Exist immortal, Cambion and Stone Circle) so far reaching right across the UK; and there are new projects being growing as we speak. Ticket sales are excellent considering all the big festivals are up on us so I could not be happier.”
Ethos: “Its simple. Bring the biggest bands in the world (we can afford) to Brighton and use such events/platforms to help launch the careers of the insanely good UK wide Underground metal bands. I want a diverse range of acts to suite all tastes, bands touring the world, bands renowned for their madness live or their unique sound. Every single band on the line up provides a unique edge right from hardcore to tech death or djent that sets Mammothfest away from the rest of the festivals. I think the line up is perfect this year and feedback strongly reflects this especially when people check out some of the bands they have not heard before and realise just how great all the bands are. I urge people to do this right now!
This is not just about Brighton, we have underground acts from all over the UK representing but it is clear from the some of the bands like Stone Circle and Core of iO that since playing Mammothfest a number of new doors have opened which is very encouraging, and we want to extend this for so many more bands, so if anyone is curious simply email – info@mammothmetalfestival.co.uk with any queries and we will come back to you asap.”
