BLOODSTOCK 2014: MORE BANDS FOR THE SOPHIE STAGE

As we steadily roll into March, the Bloodstock Festival big wigs have announced six more bands for our pleasure! All of the new additions are billed to play on the event’s second stage: The Sophie Lancaster Stage.

The first two acts of this announcement are set to kick Thursday night into action! Making a return after a memorable performance in 2013 is the Phil Campbell All Starr Band. The Motörhead guitarist had such a great time at Bloodstock last year, he’s coming back to do it all over again! Accompanying them are Nottingham thrashers Incinery,  who are happy to take up the challenge! The band has stated the following: “Things have been stepping up a gear and the unbelievable is becoming a reality, so it is with great excitement that we return to the place that started it all for us!  It’ll be a real homecoming, and we’re looking forward to playing at what is the keystone of the metal scene in the UK.”

The next four bands to be revealed are all Friday’s children, playing Bloodstock 2014 on its second day (8th of August). Swedish death metallers Diabolical are set to make their Catton Park debut, expressing: “It is with great pleasure that we announce our appearance at Bloodstock! Rest assured we will take equally great measures to make this a highly memorable show!”. Joining them are Mancunian black metallers Winterfylleth, who are sure to play cuts from their well received current album, The Threnody Of Triumph. Southwest metal band, Cambion, who draw their djent/tech/prog influences from acts such as Fear Factory and Meshuggah, are determined to get heads banging on Friday. The band has stated they “are beyond happy to be playing the best UK festival, Bloodstock!  Cambion is growing into a force to be reckoned with and that’s down to hard graft and Bloodstock itself for believing in and supporting the next generation of metal bands!”. Joining them (and concluding this latest announcement) are  Norwegian groove metallers, Zerozonic. The band couldn’t be more excited to play the event, exclaiming: “Finally, Zerozonic will play a big festival outside Norway for the first time. It’s about time!  Ten years of existence and three albums in we are very excited to play the amazing Bloodstock.  Let’s get it on!”

With the three headliners already confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be killer. Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash titans Megadeth. Other acts billed so far are Carcass, Primordial, Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Primordial, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam, Biohazard, Revamp, Orphaned Land, Aborted, Rotting Christ, Satan, Sister Sin and Evil Scarecrow. More band announcements are to follow shortly, so watch this space!
