BLOODSTOCK 2014: JUST 7 WEEKS TO GO AND MORE BANDS ANNOUNCED!

529902_533034406717257_1615155193_nWith the countdown of weeks to this year’s installment of Bloodstock Open Air Festival now down to single figures, the organisers are certainly not resting on their laurels, by adding even more acts to an already enticing bill!

.

Two more additions for the Sophie Stage are ex-Akercocke members Voices, who will bring their self-proclaimed ‘whirlwind of psychedelic melancholia and psychotic blast’ to the masses on Sunday. Also joining the Sophie bill are true heavy metallers Conquest Of Steel, who will be playing their final ever show. If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing them in action now’s the time to add them to your list of must-see (and really rather underrated live) UK bands before it’s too late. Bring your swords and shields for one last battle in their honour!

.

Meanwhile the Jagermeister stage welcomes four eclectic bands: Ded Orse, who have been described as the bastard son of Clutch and early Black Sabbath, Manchester’s Ten Foot Wizard, purveyors of power blues and stoner rock, Cadence Noir, who showcase dark acoustic goth with a wealth of traditional instruments, and finally Darkhorse, a hard hitting stoner groove troupe from Northants.

.

Bloodstock 2014’s New Blood Stage also welcomes the following acts (all winners of their regional ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ heats): Alone With Wolves from the Luton event (for fans of Bury Tomorrow, Architects, Alexisonfire), Dog Tired from Glasgow’s heat (for fans of Pantera, Black Label Society, Corrosion Of Conformity), Jonestown from Brighton (ex-Internal Conflict, delivering their brutal, angry, honest message), Jacknife Seizure from London (4-piece prog rock/metal), Back Down or Die from the East of England (for fans of RATM, Hatebreed, Suicidal Tendencies), Reprisal from Surrey (Dom Lawson-approved death/thrash), Darkeye from London (heavy-ass riffs for fans of Gojira and Triptykon), Manchester’s The Threat (progressive death metal/brutal jazz), Synaptik from Norwich’s heat (melodic death/prog metal), Resin from the Midlands (for fans of Alice In Chains and Alter Bridge), King Goat from the Brighton event (prog doom with psychedelic and Eastern influences) and finally, Kent’s Unforseen Prophecy (metalcore with “unique” female backing vox).

.

With the three headliners confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be killer, let’s just hope it stays dry! Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash titans Megadeth. Other acts billed so far include Carcass, Primordial, Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Triptykon, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Primordial, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam, Biohazard, Revamp, Orphaned Land, Aborted, Rotting Christ, Satan, Sister Sin and many more! Further band announcements are to follow shortly, so watch this space!
