WE GET PIST WITH DAVE ROWLANDS IN BIRMINGHAM!

Pist logoThe sludge and sleaze scene is currently crawling with filth-encaseddiamonds and among the great unwashed are Pist.

We caught up with frontman Dave Rowlands just after the Bury bombardiers had served up an almighty slice of Lancashire hotpot before punters at The Rainbow in Birmingham.

Still pumped up like a thoroughbred at the end of a horserace, Dave Rowlands barely paused for breath before telling Zero Tolerance about the band’s plans for a first full length release.

“We’ll be recording it with Chris Fielding (Conan) at Skyhammer Studios in September. We’ve already got most of the tracks down and have been demo-ing some of them live. It’s now just a case of tweaking them.”

While keen that the band live up to their name, anyone familiar with Pist’s debut five-track release Riffology will already be aware that there’s much more to these Bury boys than may appear at first glance.

“Me and John (guitar) are the main songwriters and then Mike (bass) will usually wade in with a few riffs,” said Dave while fumbling with his tobacco tin. “Expect more of the same, in the vein of Planet Caravan.”

As Rainbow regulars will attest, live Pist are an unwieldy force of nature with Rowlands reeling across the stage like a punch-drunk pugilist, swigging from whatever ale is at hand, while never actually missing a beat.

“We only came together in December 2013 so we could hardly be more pleased with how things have gone in such a short time,” said Dave. “We’re back on the road soon with Gurt and Bong Cauldron and really looking forward to it.”

In the meantime Dave and John are managing the band’s affairs, booking gigs, with an eye out for a label to take them on as well. If you fancy getting Pist, now’s your chance.
