SCAR SYMMETRY ALBUM RECORDING UPDATE

Despite recent line-up troubles, Swedish melodic death metal titans Scar Symmetry have announced they are well underway with the recording of a brand new album.

Scar Symmetry took to their Facebook page last Friday to reveal that the recording of a new album is halfway complete. The statement came alongside a picture (left) of the band in the studio and reads: “HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13th! Guess what we’re up to? We’ve just listened to all the songs from our next album, we’re about midway through the recording sessions – the songs are turning out KILLER so far… Cheers’n’beers!!!”

This news comes following the announcement that long-time guitarist Jonas Kjellgren had left the band completely back in August, after taking a short break from touring, to concentrate on his other commitments including his other musical outlets in both Raubtier and the Bourbon Boys. The band decided early on to carry on as a 5-piece rather than replacing him, with Per Nilsson becoming the sole guitarist in the group, stating: “We won’t bring in an official replacement, instead we’ll continue as a 5-piece, sometimes bringing in a session guitar player for live shows – just as we effectively have been doing it since Jonas quit touring with us.”

No word yet on what exactly the record will sound like yet, but with the revelation that Nilsson is now pulling double time as part of The Absence, it’s probably fair to assume that he’s got no shortage of melodic death metal riffage.

Thanks for dropping in!
