NWOBHM pioneers Saxon have recruited drummer Sven Dirkschneider (son of former Accept screamer Udo) as a temporary replacement for definitive drummer Nigel Glocker (sitting out due to sudden health problems). The rescheduled dates are set to take place early February 2015 (see below).
The tour celebrates the group’s 35th anniversary, and will see a set comprising songs off the ‘The Holy Trinity’: Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law, and Denim and Leather.
In good news, Glocker has been making leaps towards recovery as of late and will be attending the coming shows – giving fans a chance to meet the sticksmaster face-to-face. Frontman Biff Byford commented: “It’s great to see Nige on the mend, he will get the chance to see the band from out front for a change.”
