PENTAGRAM GUITARIST ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE

Victor Griffin, guitarist for the cult doom metal band Pentagram, has announced that he will be vacating his duties within the band at the ending of their European tour, scheduled to take place between 31 October and 10 November.  “…For now, it’s time to move on with my new band’s album and tour plans for 2013,” stated Griffin in the announcement.  So far, there has been no word on who will take his place.

During their European run, Pentagram will be performing their highly acclaimed album “Relentless” in its entirety, as well as other fan favorites from their catalog.  The album in discussion was first released in 1985 and featured Griffin on guitar with his “drop B” sound making its debut.  Pentagram have gone through a number of line-up changes through their 41 year existence, with Griffin occupying the guitar spot roughly four times since 1979, being just one of the band’s 10 guitar players.  In addition to “Relentless,” Griffin can be heard on such gems as “Day of Reckoning,” “Be Forewarned,” and 2010’s “Last Rites.”

Aside from Pentagram, Griffin has played with other recoginzable doom names, such as Death Row and Place of Skulls, and once served as a touring guitarist for Cathedral in 1994.
