American heavy metal posse Obsession have announced Jeff Curtiss as their new bass player.
The four-stringer was previously a member of metalcore outfit Symphony Of Malice, who hail from the same US state of Connecticut as Obsession, before joining the band.
Releasing the news via Facebook the band said: “Please join us in welcoming our new bassist – Jeff Curtiss. Jeff exploded onto the metal scene only recently. [He is] a fantastic thundering talent on the bass. You may know him from the band Symphony Of Malice, where he made his debut. He is now the ultimate low end in Obsession! We are excited to have him on board!”
Probably best known for their frontman Michael Vescera (just look at their Facebook name) Obsession released their last album Order Of Chaos back in 2012. The addition of a fresh bassist will have fans hoping more recorded material may be on the way (or at least some live dates) as since reforming around ten years ago they’ve only released two full-length albums.
Hooking up with the long-time heavy/power metal purveyors is a big step for Jeff, who thanked fans for their support: “Thank you all very much for your kind words! It means a lot to me to say I belong to Obsession. I love what this band brings to METAL, melodic heavy riffs with some awesome vocals and heart pounding drums! I will do what I do best for these guys by laying down the nasty low-end.”
In the meantime Obsession are preparing to re-release some of their past albums as well as hinting that a Greatest Hits compilation could be on the way.
