A memorial concert for David Gold, the founder and frontman of Canadian black/doom band Woods of Ypres, will be held in Toronto, celebrating his life and paying tribute to him.
.
Taking place on April 5th at The Annex WreckRoom, the evening will also serve as the release party for the band’s new, and final, album, ‘Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light’.
.
Chicago doom/death metallers Novembers Doom will give a headline performance and bands including Eclipse Eternal, Pagan Ritual, and Panzerfaust will play tribute performances.
.
The event’s page, run by David’s sister Marie amongst others, states: “David’s 5th and final composition, ‘Woods 5: Grey Skies and Electric Light’ is due for release on Earache records. Already critically acclaimed as a masterpiece from the early reviews, it is only fitting the record be given a proper release.
.
“A celebration of David’s life and a tribute memorial concert will take place for friends, family, and fans to come together as well as to participate in a listening of ‘Woods 5’ in its entirety over a venue sound system.
.
“Admission is solely by donation, and proceeds will be given to the Gold family to help cover the expenses of David’s final arrangements, and to support the annual David Gold Music Scholarship made available to Sault College students.”
