Scheduled to take place during the last weekend in May of 2013, promoters for the 11th installment of Maryland Deathfest (MDF XI) have announced the first group of bands set to appear. Usually held at the Sonar venue, rumor has it that it will take place elsewhere, though no announcement has been made on an official venue location.
The lineup so far is shaping up with the following bands:
Perhaps the most exciting bit of news so far is the appearance of Righteous Pigs, the grindcore band that featured Mitch Harris on guitar shortly before his departure to join Napalm Death for their “Harmony Corruption” album. The band formed in 1987 and released two demos and two full length albums before disbanding in 1990 upon Harris’ exit. Following their MDF XI appearance, the band will perform at a number of European festivals in the following summer months.
