Kirk Hammett, guitarist in Metallica since their Kill ‘Em All album and the first band member to have his hair long again after the Load / Re-Load years (1996-1997), is hosting his first horror convention from 6-8 February 2014 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California. The convention is set to feature Hammett joining Death Angel and Exodus for live performances.
Kirk Hammet is a long-time Horror aficionado. If Metallica’s Misfts patches, quotes of H.P. Lovecraft and references to the darkest parts of the Old Testament were not enough to tell you that, in 2012 Hammett published his book ‘Too Much Horror Business- the Kirk Hammett Collection’. In it, he documents his love for horror art, boasting an impressive collection of memorabilia.
Two years after the release of that book, Hammett is putting together a convention that he describes as “the most sinister, evil, over-the-top horror/music festival ever”. The three-day Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEvil will feature talks by prominent actors, writers and producers of the horror business, signing and photo ops, make-up workshops and much of Hammett’s own personal collection on display. Most importantly, the festival will include live appearances by Carcass, Exodus, Death Angel, Orchid and Death Division.
Kirk Hammett will be joining his former bandmates Exodus and his friends in Death Angel for encores in their live sets.
