The High On Fire guitarist and vocalist, and former Sleep riff lord, has taken “the necessary steps towards regaining his health”, according to a press release.

Seemingly ignoring his legacy of monumentous riffs, substance abuse, and total amplifier destruction, Pike has begun treatment for alcohol rehabilitation.

Consequently, High On Fire have been forced to pull out of this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in the US, and touring plans have beeen put on hold “indefinitely”.

The band released the following statement: “High on Fire would like to thank everyone involved with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the opportunity to be a part of this year’s tour. We regretfully will have to bow out as our friend and bandmate begins his recovery, but [we] very much appreciate having been asked to be a part of this summer’s festival run”.
