Swedish warriors of doom Grand Magus return with their new album Triumph and Power. The band’s seventh album will be released via Nuclear Blast Records on 3 February 2014.
Grand Magus once again worked with Nico Elgstrand as producer, a collaboration that first started with 2010’s Hammer Of The North. Song titles are sufficient to have devil’s horns thrown in the air: On Hooves Of Gold, Steel Versus Steel, The Naked And The Dead, The Hammer Will Bite are just some examples. In a track-by-track analysis of the songs (first part here), you can see singer/guitarist JB talking about the album’s lyrics- apparently they deal as much with personal feelings as with political commentary. There you can also take a first look at the artwork of Anthony Roberts, which “perfectly captures the work on this album and Grand Magus as a band”.
Grand Magus commented on the album: “Triumph And Power is a metal triumph of Viking power!!! This is our strongest album yet – it has the northern feel; it has the power and the melody that has become our mark of excellence. Fans of true metal will take this album to their hearts. Stay true!”
