Norwegian blackened-death metallers Fester have returned from a deathly absence to release their first new material in 17 years.
.
‘A Celebration Of Death’ features “a whirlwind of dark musical flavors mixing black, death, thrash, heavy metal and jazz”, and is due out in mid-March through Abyss Records.
.
Guitarist/vocalist Bjorn “Tiger” Mathisen stated: “Fester has never made music to please a certain crowd and these dark anthems really prove that darkness and death can come in many different disguises.”
.
The record’s cover was painted by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sodom, Athiest, Sigh), and the rest of the layout was handled by Joce of Industrie Chimere Noire (Portal, Ghast, Total Holocaust).
.
The CD will include a 16-page booklet, while Flooga Records are releasing a laminated gatefold vinyl with a heavy inner sleeve.
.
Total Holocaust Records will also release a limited-edition cassette version of the album (100 copies only) with alternate, hand-drawn cover and artwork.
