The noisey, but always entertaining FANTÔMAS have recently announced that they will be taking the stage at the inaugural Rockout Festival scheduled for December 6 at Espacio Broadway in Santiago, Chile. Additionally, this festival will also feature performances from the likes of DEVO and Primus.
Discussing the dynamic of the band in a recent interview with Prog Sphere, drummer Dave Lombardo (Philm, ex-Slayer) said “It’s one of the most amazing groups ever. I love that band. And I hope that Mike will say, ‘Let’s do this [again]!’ My door is open. Mike and I, you know, we communicate. We have a great friendship.” Speaking to the A.V. Club back in 2008 about the band’s status, vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More) was commented as saying “It’s slowed down a little bit because we’ve gotten distracted with other things,” before further stating “the band is still very much in my mind.”
As of this press release, there has been no word on the band’s line-up (which also features Melvins frontman Buzz Osbourne and Tomahawk bassist Trevor Dunn) for the performance or whether or not they have plans to further perform or record in the near future.
