Exodus riff-master Gary Holt and Slayer sticksman Dave Lombardo are working on a new (and as yet untitled) project, along with former Queens of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri and Amen vocalist Casey Chaos, according to a report by Noisecreep. Holt has been touring with Slayer since Jeff Hanneman contracted the flesh eating, bacterial disease necrotising fasciitis (allegedly from a spider bite) and had to have surgery to save his right arm in early 2011. The motley crew of names have been tracking songs for an upcoming documentary on the New Orleans haunted house attraction, the House of Shock (founded by a Mr Philip Anselmo in 1992) with Ross Robinson (Korn/ Slipknot) handling production duties. Gary Holt commented:
“Whenever Dave and I would get on deck for soundcheck, we’d go up there first and jam make up stuff everyday, It just comes easy for us. We’re both into being spontaneous and improvising. We probably have an album’s worth of material.”
Holt went on to describe one of the band’s recent works as, “A combination of all of our bands with Discharge and The Exploited and GBH on it. Really, really punk. Super crunchy and super brutal. It just came together so naturally. There’s a beat and a riff and Casey starts spewing some venom on top of it. It’s awesome!”
More info on this when it becomes available.
