Available well in advance enough to enable accurate air guitar antics during their headline set at Bloodstock 2014 comes Scattered Ashes: Decade Of Emperial Wrath, the official tab book from legendary black metal pioneers Emperor.
The 132 page oversized book features 13 original tabs of Emperor classics, taken from the 2003 release bearing the same name, a foreword and transcriptions by Ihsahn, who comments: “In my experience as a guitar teacher I’ve come across a lot of transcribed metal material. However, when looking for material covering the more extreme forms of metal I found there were definite shortcomings and hence came the idea to do a tab book on Emperor. As tab books were such an important part of my early years as a guitar player, I hope this book too may be helpful and inspiring to guitarists with a passion for extreme music.”
In related news, along with their much anticipated UK outing in August 2014 for Bloodstock Festival, the band are also slated to headline a stage at France’s 2014 installment of the ever-popular Hellfest. Also playing are Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Carcass, Electric Wizard, Gorgoroth, 1349 and Opeth, to name but a few.
