No doubt you have all heard about the big 10 year celebrations from our previous Readers’ Poll winners De Profundis.
Well, as the sun sets on their first decade they refuse to go quietly. Here is a brand new live video that captures the band on fire performing Beyond The Threshold taken from their critically acclaimed Kingdom Of The Blind album:
Their 10th anniversary year has been a busy one. Celebrations began with a UK tour with Taake and Fen, followed by a full European jaunt alongside David Vincent’s I Am Morbid, gore metal legends Necrophagia, Helsott and openers The Heretic Order. Next was the release of Decayed: 2007 – 2017, a career retrospective collection featuring a brand new track, ‘An Orgy Of Grotesqueries’, that was given away free – 1,000 for each year of their existence – with 10,000 lucky copies of Zero Tolerance Magazine.
But, what better way to bring down the curtain on their anniversary celebrations than with a special gig, back at the venue where the whole De Profundis story began?
On October 21st De Profundis return to The Unicorn in Camden, London where they played their first ever gig. Playing the Unicorn not only gives the perfect historical balance to this conclusion of De Profundis’ 10th anniversary year, it also allows them to make this special night a free entry show, so as many fans as possible will be able to share in the celebrations. This show will see the band drawing a line under the early part of their career and many of their classic songs will be aired for what may be the last time.
There are already rumors of a new album and a new deal to kick off their next decade, but for now let’s enjoy a look back over their journey so far from a band whose current compilation earned these words from our very own Will Pinfold: “Decayed 2007-2017 is an essential compilation which not only charts the evolution of one of the UK’s best underground metal bands through some of their strongest songs, but is also a reminder of just how great De Profundis were right from the start.”
