Carcass are working on an EP with the outtakes from the Surgical Steel sessions, to be released this November.
Bands and labels tend to give exclusive tracks here and there as teasers; tracks that do not feature on the version of the album that you (poor purchaser) own. Carcass’ follow-up strike to last year’s Surgical Steel is a collection of unreleased and hard-to-find tracks that were recorded for that album. The EP is titled Surgical Remission/Surplus Steel and Carcass’ bass/voice, Jeff Walker comments:
“Well, let’s call this tying up loose ends. We thought we’d make all the tracks available from the Surgical Steel album session available on an EP… just in case you bought the Jewel Case version, DIDN’T buy the Digipak, didn’t buy the Japanese Import, or maybe you never bought the Decibel Magazine issue with the flexi disc? Well here you go; ALL the songs on one disc along with a previously unreleased track. Even Trevor Strnad’s arm makes a guest appearance! Enjoy.”
Surgical Remission/Surplus Steel will be released by Nuclear Blast on 11 November (North America), 14 November (Europe) and 17 November (UK) 2014. You can pre-order it here.
