BLOODSTOCK 2014: JUST FOUR WEEKS TO GO!

1965018_10151997689654205_1186555977_nSo, it is approximately one month until the gates of Bloodstock Festival are opened and hordes of metal maniacs descend upon the sunny green fields of Catton Park. Despite being just around the corner, the good sirs at BOA HQ are still gracing us with more band announcements!

.

To begin with, Italy’s Arthemis have secured themselves a slot on the main Ronnie James Dio stage, which should keep the power metal fans amongst us happy! Having already played at Download festival this year, the band return to visit their British friends at Bloodstock, set to play cuts from their new album, Live From Hell.

.

There are also a bunch of additions set for the Sophie Lancaster stage over the weekend, including Gurt, who will be bringing their brand of groovey blues 70s rock. Joining them are Swedish melodic death metallers Deals Death, Manchester five-piece Babylon Fire, Brit black metallers Old Corpse Road, up-and-coming prog metallers, Collibus and last but not least, the return of the medieval minstrels of death metal, Haerken!

.

The Metal 2 The Masses (M2TM) tour continues to rage across the land. The following lucky bands have recently earned themselves places on the New Blood stage in August; self-appointed ‘roadkill metal’ outfit Convincing Clearity (Norway’s M2TM), sludge/noiseniks Hogslayer (Cardiff), melodic prog metallers Metaprism (Bournemouth), old school lo-fi outfit All Consumed (Preston), anthemic, ground-breaking progsters Akb’al, Yorkshire power/groove metal mash-up Leatherneck (Selby M2TM), Latvian modern metal quintet Once Upon, and straight-up headbangers The Self Titled from Kent. In addition, death metal-infused mob Kill All The Gentlemen have been chosen from the Hobgoblin Beer annual video upload contest! Catch the Exeter-based boys over the weekend, also on the New Blood stage.

.

There are also three brand new confirmations for the Jagermeister stage. First up, are feisty female Scottish trio The Amorettes. Fancy some operatic metal? Then don’t miss Enk Elination, with their classically trained former opera singer. Rounding things out, are Alzir, the ‘intergalactic space porn doom rock’ act, a three piece borne from the love of beards, hard rock and loud valve amp!

.

With the three Bloodstock headliners confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be killer. Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash titans Megadeth. Other acts billed so far include Carcass, Primordial, Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Primordial, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam, Biohazard, Revamp, Orphaned Land, Aborted, Rotting Christ, Satan, Sister Sin and many more! Further band announcements are to follow shortly, so watch this space!

.

Bloodstock is held at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 7th-10th August 2014. Tickets for 2014′s event are on sale now. Buy your tickets now using this link.
