BLOODSTOCK 2014: HEADLINERS FOR SOPHIE STAGE REVEALED

With February in sight, those ruddy organisers at Bloodstock Festival HQ have done it again and announced another string of bands to play this summer’s event! In this installment, the headline acts for the Sophie Lancaster Stage (the festival’s second stage) have been unveiled.

.

To begin with, Greek extreme metal legends, Rotting Christ, have been billed as the headline act for the Sophie stage on Friday! Much revered, Rotting Christ were one of the first black metal groups in the region, forming back in 1987 and going on to create the genre’s Greek signature sound of the 90s. Commenting on the news, the band proclaimed that they’re “proudly on the roster of one of bloodiest festivals around! It will be an honour to perform for our English metal brothers. Until then… KEEP THE TRUE METAL SPIRIT ALIVE!”

.

Up next are Swedish metallers Sister Sin, led by the feisty Liv Jagrell, to close out the second stage on Saturday. The Gothenburg based band will be blasting out tunes from their best-selling third album, Now And Forever, which debuted on the Swedish album charts at #6. These Swedes have also been honing their live chops, touring with road dogs Motorhead, Otep, and Arch Enemy, among others.

.

Finally, to finish off proceedings for Sunday night, on the Sophie Lancaster stage, are the reunited classic NWOBHM stars Satan. The band has gone from strength-to-strength since reuniting a couple of years ago, with their latest release, 2013’s Life Sentence, gaining high praises from fans and critics alike. Renowned for their electric live performances, festival goers should be prepared to be taught a lesson from the old-school!

.

With the three headliners already confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be killer. Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash titans Megadeth. Other acts billed so far are Carcass, Primordial, Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Primordial, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam, Biohazard, Revamp, Orphaned Land, Aborted and Evil Scarecrow. More band announcements are to follow shortly, so watch this space!
