This year’s mighty Bloodstock Festival is certainly taking shape, as we are graced with another announcement, this time billing five more bands! Out of these, four are set for the Sophie Lancaster Stage and the other for the main Ronnie James Dio Stage.
.
To begin with, making their debut at the Catton Hall event, are Gothenburg-based Swedish rockers, Graveyard, who will be storming the Ronnie James Dio Stage on the Sunday! The four-piece have just successfully completed a number of dates on Australia’s Soundwave Festival. Be sure to catch them this August, where they’re bound to play choice cuts from latest album, Lights Out.
.
Taking a Saturday slot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage are Norwegian death metallers Blood Red Throne. Having released their seventh studio album in 2013, entitled Blood Red Throne, the band has announced: “It’s about time Blood Red Throne get the chance to tear shit up at the almighty Bloodstock Festival! We can’t wait to see old and new fans. Let the madness begin!”.
.
Sunderland based NWOBHM bruisers, Battleaxe, also join the Saturday bill on the Sophie stage. The band was formed back in 1979 and made waves for eight years before going on hiatus. Having regrouped in 2007, Battleaxe are back with a vengeance! Their latest album, Heavy Metal Sanctuary, was released just a couple of weeks ago. Accompanying them are Finnish death ‘n’ roll troupe, Profane Omen, who are also set to release their fourth studio album, Reset, on the 17th of March through Spinefarm Records.
.
Tailing off the new acts for the second stage are home-grown death metal mob, The King Is Blind, who will be steamrolling into Bloodstock on Saturday. Although a new band, its various members have a wealth of experience and their festival debut performance should not be missed! For the curious, the band has extended this invitation: “Brothers & Sisters of the crown, download our free 4-track promo, Bleeding The Ascension, here. Thus spake the King.”
.
With the three headliners already confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be killer. Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash titans Megadeth. Other acts billed so far include Carcass, Primordial, Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Primordial, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam, Biohazard, Revamp, Orphaned Land, Aborted, Rotting Christ, Satan, Sister Sin and many more! Further band announcements are to follow shortly, so watch this space!
