UK death metal trio Bloodshot Dawn have opened up auditions for a new drummer after Doug Anderson left the band last week.
After eight years in the fold and citing the classic ‘creative and musical differences’ as a reason for his departure, the split seems to have been pretty amicable. However it has left them drummer-less as they continue work on their second album, the follow-up to their self-titled debut.
The band commented: “We are looking for a new full time member to join us, both in the studio and on the road! Album number two is underway and we are pushing our songwriting, technique and performance to a whole new level. We have big plans for touring in support of the album as well – very excited.”
Doug himself will still be pounding the drums in Unfathomable Ruination though, and released a statement explaining his reasons while also thanking all the fans and wishing his ex-bandmates all the best for the future: “It’s not easy to explain why I have decided to leave the band. Put simply, it’s down to a clash, musically and creatively. That doesn’t mean to say we don’t still all have the goal of making sick metal tunes, it just means the way we make them is no longer something I can find enjoyment in. With the band’s ever growing success, I’m forced to reflect on the bigger picture with a lot of things in my life, and I’ve come to see that Bloodshot’s future doesn’t appeal to me.
“The timing is no coincidence here. Bloodshot are writing album two, and have nothing booked for the first time in a LONG time (around 3 years). So this gives the guys plenty of room to find someone new, and to have his or her input on the new material as much or as little as they deem fit. As it stands I have made no real contributions to the new album, so my name will not be on it.”
So if you can tell a snare from a cymbal and are able to commit to a UK death metal band then check out the audition application pack below and get cracking.
But be quick, we hear Dave Lombardo’s pretty free these days…
