In support of their upcoming album Distant Satellites, atmospheric rockers Anathema will be embarking on a huge European tour that sees them traverse across 18 countries.
Starting in Athens, Greece in late August and finishing in Utrecht, The Netherlands by mid-November, the Liverpudlians’ only UK date of the tour so far is on September 18 at Limelight in Belfast (although the next day they’ll be playing at the Button Factory in Dublin).
However, UK fans need not worry too much as the band will be doing three special acoustic performances this summer. They will be appearing at London’s Celebr8 Festival on May 31, Leamington’s Assembly Rooms on June 12 and an extra special performance at Gloucester Cathedral on June 15. Between these dates the band are also set to perform at Download Festival on the third stage on Friday June 13 before headliners Opeth.
Anathema will also be doing a series of in-store album signings and acoustic performances of material from Distant Satellites in June, the week of the album’s release. These include two acoustic sets at Sound Knowledge in Marlborough on June 10 and Rise in Bristol on June 11.
Distant Satellites will be Anathema’s 12th album and first since 2012’s excellent Weather Systems. It is due to be released on June 6 in Germany and Sweden, June 9 in the UK and rest of the world, and June 10 in the USA, Canada and France on Kscope Records.
