Amenra sign to Relapse Records

Belgian post-metal masters Amenra have announced their signing to Relapse Records. Known for their soaring, atmospheric and near-spiritual take on the sub-genre and their Mass series of studio albums, the five-piece announced the signing with the following statement: “We are thrilled to announce that from now on we will be signed to Relapse records. A haven to a lot of our friends, and now to us as well. We are looking forward to work with this more than capable team, and are eager to see where it will lead us. Our new record will see its first light mid 2021. Ever onwards.”

2020 has marked a period of change for the band, with the announcement earlier this week that longtime bass player Levy Seynaeve (also of Wiegedood) would be leaving the band after an eight year stint, to be replaced by Tim Die Gieter. Comment from the band on social media read:

“We hereby announce that our bass player, Levy Seynaeve, will leave the band to focus on his other musical projects. We respectfully follow his decision, wish him the very best and hope that in some way our paths may cross again in the future. While we are sad to see him go, we are also proud to announce that Tim De Gieter will now be permanently joining Amenra on bass. Over the last couple of years we have already played numerous shows and wrote music together with Tim on several occasions when Levy was not available. Tim has proven to be a perfect fit. Although many of you have already seen Amenra with Tim on bass, we cannot wait to be on the road again and formally introduce him to you live as our new official bassplayer.

Amenra were previously signed to Neurot Recordings, the label founded by fellow post-metal titans Neurosis, and released their last album, the crushingly cathartic Mass VI , via Neurot back in 2017. We’ll keep you posted with new album news as more is revealed.
