ZT SPONSORED – MANILLA ROAD: SHELTON TALKS LONDON SHOW

Legendary US HMers Manilla Road will play their first ever UK show next month (3/6/12 at The Dome, London). It is a gig 35 years in the making and will be celebrated with a set over two hours long. Supports include veterans Solstice, Deep Machine and Spartan Warrior, alongside upstarts Wytch Hazel and Amulet. Road’s founding member Mark “Shark” Shelton told ZT why this is such a special occasion:

“There are several reasons why I am really excited about the Manilla Road show in London. Well I’m always excited to do a live show but this one is really special because we have never played in England before. I have visited England and been to London on my own time but never with the band. Even though most of my family linage is from Germany, Sweden and Norway my father was a Shelton and the Shelton family heritage goes back to Ireland, Scotland, England and Shelton Hall north of London. So it’s sort of like finally getting a chance to wield my craft on ancestral family turf. The other guys in the band know how important this show is to me also so I am sure we will all be on our A game for this one. I am also really stoked about the running order of the show. This is going to be a great gig with so many other really fantastic bands in the lineup. It will be an honor to share the stage with such great talent. I have been a Solstice fan for a long time. I think one of the big things that has me pumped about all this is that we will be doing our first show in London with a band lineup that is the closest to the classic Manilla Road sound that has been since the 80’s and early 90’s. Our new drummer and long time friend Neudi and bassist Josh Castillo have really helped us capture that true essence of epic Manilla style and sound again. So as you see I have many reasons why I am so excited about this show. And above all I’m just always pumped that there are metal heads out there that want to hear us play. I’m always excited when I think of how lucky I am to have such fans that have made it possible for me to tour and get a chance to play throughout the world. Amazing. Thanks to all of you and I hope to see you at the show.
Blessed Be and Up The Hammers.
Shark”
