ZT SPONSORED: Elixir – 25th Anniversary Show!

Arcane Productions are very proud to present, in association with Zero Tolerance, the 25th Anniversary show for Elixir’s classic “The Son Of Odin” album.

Elixir guitarist Phil Denton had the following to say on the upcoming show:

“As it is 25 years since we recorded and released ‘The Son of Odin’ album, we wanted to play some shows featuring the whole of the album.

We did so in Norway, Spain and Bulgaria earlier this year, and the shows went down really well, so we wanted to do the same in our country before the year was out.  So on December 10th, at The Purple Turtle in London, we will play a special show featuring ‘The Son of Odin’, as well as a large piece of our latest album ‘All Hallows Eve’ which we released towards the end of last year. We’ll be joined by our special guests Agincourt, who I thought were superb at the last British Steel Festival, so it should be a great night!

As for ‘The Son of Odin’ album itself, we re-released a special 25th Anniversary Edition this year, featuring the unreleased BBC Friday Rock Show sessions, which were recorded one month after we recorded the album.

It has been good to re-visit the album and put together the new release. At one time, we did consider re-recording the album again, and that would have been interesting. However, the album has received a lot of acclaim over the years, and we realise that it is not just about the songs, but also the sound captured in that recording that makes it what it is. If we re-recorded it, it might be technically superior in sound, in a clean digital way, but we felt that the old analogue recording, with it’s warts-and-all roughness about it, helps to make it the album that it is. So in the end we decided that it is best left alone, capturing a moment in time in all it’s power and glory!”
