Manchester black metal troop Winterfylleth will be releasing a split EP with folk-inspired Ukranian black metallers Drudkh comprised entirely of cover songs in January next year.

Entitled ‘Thousands Of Moons Ago/The Gates’ the four-track EP will feature cover songs that pay tribute to both bands early influences (so don’t be expecting any Abba songs like on Ghost’s new EP). It will be available as a limited edition vinyl or digital download, released through Season Of Mist Records on January 17th in Europe and January 21st in North America.

Winterfylleth had this to say: “We are very pleased to announce that the next Winterfylleth release is going to be a split with Ukrainian black metal legends Drudkh. We are incredibly honoured to be releasing a split with Drudkh, a band that has been a great musical inspiration for Winterfylleth since the very beginning.”

This will be Winterfylleth’s first ‘new’ material since 2012’s incredible album ‘The Threnody Of Triumph’. As for Drudkh, a CD version entitled ‘Eastern Frontier In Flames’ will also be on sale on January 17th/21st that brings together tracks from ‘Thousands of Moons Ago’, previous EP ‘Anti-Urban’ and their covers EP from 2010 ‘Slavonic Chronicles’, all of which have never been available separately on CD before.
