Canadian progressive metalheads Voivod, have announced October 8th (Europe) as the release date for their up coming single ‘Mechanical Mind’, available as a digital download and 7” vinyl. The band’s 13th album ‘Target Earth will be released January 21st, 2013 in Europe through Century Media records after the band signed with the label earlier in October. To get a taste of what’s to come, you can stream the new track over at Pitchfork. Voivod previously released a statement via their Facebook page regarding the new album’s musical direction, stating:
“Expect something in the vein of ‘Nothingface’ with some elements from the other albums. It will be a classic Voivod album.” Drummer Away, also commented in a recent interview, “It’s more in the progressive metal vein, so it’s reminiscent of the ‘Dimension Hatröss’ era.”
Voivod will be embarking on a headlining tour of the UK and Europe this October, with support for the UK leg of the tour coming from crust-punk legends Doom, and support from Finnish band Unkind on the European dates. Voivod will also be supporting label mates Arch Enemy in Spain; for dates see below.
