ZT’s Bertrand Berthelsen translates NRK.NO’s report on today’s Varg arrest:
The Norwegian was arrested on Tuesday morning in the town of Corrèze, according to the French news agency RTL, quoting the renowned paper Le Monde. (See ZT translation HERE.)
Vikernes was previously sentences to 21 years in prison for murder in Norway.
According to French newspapers, Vikernes is a sympathiser of Anders Behring Breivik. He is in principle part of a group of 530 people who support Breivik’s so-called manifesto.
The ministry for foreign affairs has made a statement to NRK, declaring that they are in contact with the Norwegian embassy in Paris.
“We only know about the case from what we have heard in the media. We have asked the Norwegian ambassador in Paris to conduct an inquiry with the French police”, says Ragnhild Immerslund, head of communications of the ministry of foreign affairs for NRK [national broadcasting corporation of Norway].
“We cannot comment on the arrest of Varg Vikernes”, states Siv Talsen, adviser for Politiets Sikkerhetstjeneste (Norwegian equivalent to MI5).
Politiets Sikkerhetstjeneste are referring to the French police and cannot comment on whether or not the Norwegian authorities have anything to do with this situation.
The Breivik links (would) come as a surprise, given Vikernes’ previous stance. Read HERE.
