Times they are a-changin’ | Editor leaves ZT

It is with sadness that this post forms our official announcement that Calum Harvie is no longer a part of ZT’s editorial staff.

Being a small, core team here at Zero Tolerance, taking Calum’s personal circumstances into account over the past few issues made it necessary to restructure the way things work at the magazine in order for things to run effectively. Sadly, having offered Calum an alternative editorial role to that of Editor, he made a surprise announcement yesterday that he would be resigning from the magazine altogether after initially accepting the change.

We have had a fantastic six years working with Calum, from his starting role as a writer to his latter day position of Editor, a challenge he grabbed by the horns and grew with over the years as the magazine developed. Calum’s wit, genuine likeability, soft spot for cheesy 80s pop coupled with an enviable ability to get a sly yet good-humoured dig in at the competition with every editorial message he’s written(!) will be sorely missed. We would like to take this opportunity to make a very public show of wishing him all the very best in everything he does, it’s been an absolute pleasure not to mention a great laugh working with him.

For the immediate future, spending more time with his daughter and newborn son are of paramount importance to him, and who could argue with that? In the longer term, Calum plans to continue writing.

Fortunately, being a small team does have its benefits and we have always put our heads together for content at the magazine. Nathan T. Birk will shift over to become the magazine’s Deputy Editor, with our long time contributor Alex de Moller stepping in as Assistant Editor – something they have been hard at work with over the past few weeks whilst Calum’s had a break.

My usually behind the scenes involvement will now be named (though hopefully not shamed) as Editor-In-Chief, but I will continue in my role of Publisher. Check the contacts page at www.ztmag.com if in doubt.

Here’s to the past, present and future!
