Conceived by Metatron way back in 1998, UK experimental black metal weirdoes The Meads Of Asphodel have remained a quiet constant of the UK scene. In a move that sees them jump from long time label home Supernal Music to Candelight Records, the band join fellow UK artists Winterfylleth on a label that’s shaping up as something of a musical showcase for this fair isle.
Past endeavours have seen The Meads collaborate with the likes of AC Wild of cult 80s Italian black metal band Bulldozer and Hawkwind’s Huw Lloyd Langton. More recently the band have released a split CD with UK pagan metallers Old Corpse Road, who featured in issue #034’s Rapid Fire section.
