Taake offers glimpse into new album

The sun may be beating down from above but it’s forever dark in Taake‘s world. A new album has just been announced which will put a smile on even the grimmest of corpse-painted faces.

Taake is of course the solo project of the irascible Nordic legend Hoest and Et Hav av Avstand (A Sea of Distance) will be his eighth studio album.

Don’t let the fact that there are just four tracks lull you into a false impression. These are beasts from Hoest, the songs naturally fierce but with melancholic drama built in. Get an early feel by tuning into the track ‘Et Uhyre av en Kniv’ which we bring you right here.

As is customary with Taake, Hoest plays all instruments on what is a throwback to the early days of Nordic black metal, the album recorded at Earshot Studios in Bergen. This is his first album since Kong Vinter in 2017.

Released to Taake’s legions on 1 September via Dark Essence Records, the album will be available in CD, Cassette, LP (the first pressing of which will contain an A2 Poster), Ltd Edition White and Transparent LPs (limited to 1000 copies each), and Digital formats.

You can pre-order here.

Taake will perform at the following festivals:

5 Aug: Beyond the Gates, Bergen, NO
12 Aug: Alcatraz Festival, Kortrijk, BE
25 Aug: Metal Mine, Sztuki, PL
