New York’s death metal butchers Skinless are set to return with their first full-length album in nearly a decade. “Only the Ruthless Remain” features the classic line-up of the band from the late 90’s with the addition of newcomer Dave Matthews (Incontinence) on guitar, and is poised to be one of the most brutal metal releases of 2015. Currently, the band is streaming a video teaser for the album, complete with release and ordering details, via the Relapse Records YouTube page.
Commenting on “Only the Ruthless Remain,” guitarist Noah Carpenter stated “We worked really hard on this record and I hope you guys soil your diapers repeatedly when you hear it. We think it’s the most well-rounded Skinless album yet; from the song writing to the production, the artwork, and the layout, it’s the real deal. Get your beers and toilet paper ready.” Further commenting, vocalist Sherwood Webber added in “Gallons of brew slammed and oceans of blood spilled, we’re back sicker than ever. This is a dark, immense slab of death metal. May the brutal party commence again until Only The Ruthless Remain!”
Originally formed in 1992, Skinless wouldn’t release a proper full-length until 1998’s “Progression Towards Evil” which showcased the sickeningly heavy and gruesome sound that was already legendary in the live setting. The band would release various full-lengths, EPs, and splits until 2006’s flawless “Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead,” which almost wound up being the band’s swansong until their reformation in 2013.
