Living Fast is a brand new heavy metal talk show created and presented by Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste, Volture, BAT) with its debut episode due to air in mid-February.
The first installment was filmed back in January and is currently going through the whole editing process before being released later this month. John Gallagher from English NWOBHM band Raven is the show’s inaugural guest, and as with all the guests was handpicked by Ryan himself.
Speaking to Zero Tolerance about the show, Ryan said: “The show is about heavy metal and I’m especially a big fan of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. John is a good friend and actually lives nearby, so it was a no-brainer. He came to my last BBQ and I asked him to be the first guest. John is a real good sport and deserves the honour of breaking in the first episode of Living Fast.”
Other than appearing in some hilarious music videos for Municipal Waste and being interviewed on various YouTube channels, this is Ryan’s first venture into presenting in front of the camera. The idea had been in his head for a while, initially with no camera involved at all, but it’s also a chance for Ryan to share some of his favourite records with the viewers.
“I always wanted to get into radio since I was young and originally this was going to be a podcast. I DJ’d vinyl at bars for years and thought that if I combined the two elements with a visual aspect it would be more entertaining. Everyone goes to YouTube to listen to music now anyway, so I thought I’d bring my vinyl collection to the worldwide web and force it on people!
“I was overwhelmed with the sense of professionalism the crew brought to the table. Drew Bolduc and Michelle Lombardi at Buncom International Media were who I initially got in contact with. They brought in a whole audio/visual team and I acted as the director. We shot everything in one 13-hour day and it was a blast. I called upon our friends at IMOV Studios in Belgium for some extra animated surprises and we are in the editing process now.”
Dedicating his time between writing, recording and touring with three bands means it is unlikely Living Fast will turn into a monthly, let alone weekly, thing. However, it’s still early stages and Ryan refuses to rule anything out.
“I’m not putting a time restraint on myself and I’m treating each episode as its own entity. With my touring schedule between Municipal Waste, BAT and Volture it will limit how many I can pump out, but I’m shooting to at least work on one episode every three months. Who knows, once we get rolling it might become easier to produce a lot more. I’m not slowing down…”
No light is shed on who the second guest may be, but with BAT playing their first three lives dates in the US supporting Satan in April and Volture touring with Cauldron across Europe throughout March, could that be a hint? Whoever it is, they’re sure to provide an interesting watch.
