Joey LaCaze, drummer for New Orleans’ EyeHateGod, passed away 23rd August.  There are no details released at this time as to his cause of death, but more information will be available soon.  In addition to playing with EyeHateGod, LaCaze was active in Outlaw Order and Mystick Krewe of Clearlight, as well as Solemn Sickness Continuum and Hyperdermic-Stigmata.  He is survived by a wife and child.

Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting LaCaze will no doubt tell you about his warm, kind demeanor and willingness to shake the hands of fans that approach him.  On stage, while Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton churn out devastating feedback, it was Joey behind the kit, quietly timing the beats and measures to himself to allow for the perfect build up and all out whallop of their dense, thick sound to explode.

EyeHateGod just recently completed a European tour, with various 25th anniversary appearances scheduled for the very near future, as well as an appearance at the inaugural Housecore Horror Film Festival this coming October.  Currently, there is no word from the band on their future plans.

Rest in Peace Joey LaCaze!
