Although it’s barely two years since Locrian’s last effort, the extraordinary Return to Annihilation, these boys from Chicago are set to release another full length, entitled Infinite Dissolution, on 24th July via Relapse Records.
Like their last release, Infinite Dissolution was recorded in Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio studio in Chicago, and produced by Greg Norman. Locrian have tapped into the talents of sculptor David Altmejd for the album artwork. Although this is only their second album with Relapse Records, this will be their 26th release in only ten years (including self-released tapes and CD’s).
Judging by the samples featured in the album trailer (below), Locrian are continuing on their destructive sonic path, whilst still digging for new ways to terrify and inspire listeners. It’s quite ironic that both this album and the last was/will be released in the heat and sunshine of the summer – this music is the polar opposite of what you might choose to listen to with your mates at a barbecue or at the beach.
