Katatonia have given word about their next album being their ninth to date. The band says “The first couple of months of 2012 will see us hard at work on the recording of our ninth album, and if everything goes according to plan, the album will be out before summer. We’re also busy on a double duty finishing up the ‘Last Fair Day Gone Night’ anniversary DVD.” Katatonia is not only ready to write and record for their next album but has spent the time performing as well.
.
Just earlier this month they played four shows in Scandinavia hitting all of the capital cities from Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and the band’s hometown of Stockholm. These shows were a part of the 20th anniversary tour of “Last Fair Day Gone Night” having the band performs not one but two different sets. The first was a performance of the entire album “Last Fair Deal Gone Down” from start to finish while the second set was a combination of songs expending the band’s previous works.

Katatonia will indeed be back for the New Year and this next release will be better than anything that they have released before.
