EX-DRAGONFORCE SINGER JOINS TANK

NWOBHM veterans Tank will be joined by a new front-man on all of their tour dates in 2013: ex-Dragonforce singer ZP Theart.

Theart’ll be stepping up to a mic left vacant by the group’s regular vocalist Doogie White, who’s spending the year away from Tank and heading out on the road to sing for Michael Schenker.

“We thrive on bringing fresh blood into the band,” said long-serving Tank guitarist Mick Tucker. “It gives us a good kick in the ass and breathes new life into our songs. Bringing in a world class vocalist like ZP is a great privilege for us and a real treat for metal fans.”

Fellow six-stringer Cliff Evans added: “Mick and me have been playing together for a long time. We know what we want when it comes to making good music. We’ve been rehearsing with ZP this week and we can’t wait to get on stage and do what we do best: play British rock/metal the way it should be played.”

Theart, who sang on the first four Dragonforce albums, plans to divide his time between Tank and his other band I Am I throughout the year.

“Good music is good music end of story, and being asked to fill Doogie’s boots for these Tank shows is an honour I’m very much looking forward to,” said the South African-born singer.

“While I Am I is still my priority, we’ve managed to fit these shows in with both our schedules so we can go out there and kick some ass, and if rehearsals are anything to go by, then we’ve got something very special coming your way!”

Tank was formed by ex-Damned bassist Algy Ward in 1980 and the group released six acclaimed records between 1982 and 2002 before quietly disbanding.

Tucker and Evans, who joined Tank in 1983 and ’84 respectively, revived Tank in 2008 with White replacing Ward as the band’s front-man.

They’ve since released two albums – 2010’s War Machine and War Nation in 2012 – and a live DVD.

Here’s where you’ll be able to see Tankonforce (as no-one else will call them) later this year:

April 14th – PPM Festival Belgium

May 19th – Rockhard Festival Germany

May 31st – Shepherds Bush Empire London UK

June 23rd – R-MINE Festival Belgium
