London’s rising stars De Profundis have posted a new track, entitled “This Wretched Plague” on YouTube. The artwork for their upcoming third album ‘The Emptiness Within’ was also been revealed. Listen to the track HERE.
Vocalist Craig Land issued Zero Tolerance with the following statement:
“Since our press release on Saturday night, in which we revealed the cover art for our forthcoming 3rd album, entitled “The Emptiness Within”, and released a track called “This Wretched Plague” for streaming, there have been well over 800 views on Youtube.
The album cover was done by Costin Chioreanu (Ulver, Absu, Dakthrone, Grave etc). We basically just gave him the final mix of the album, with the lyrics, and gave him free reign to come up with a design. The only stipulation was that it should contain a lone figure, which we have carried through with all our album covers. We were blown away with the cover and it changed very little from his initial vision.
The song “This Wretched Plague” was the last song we started writing for the album, but it was written pretty quickly, before we had finished some of the other tracks. Shoi brough most of the musical ideas in for this one, but as usual, the song was written and arranged as a band. I only finished writing the lyrics on the morning of recording the vocals for this song. The lyrics to every song on the album is very personal to me. “This Wretched Plague” deals with the strain on relationships caused by substance abuse.”
The album is scheduled for release via Kolony Records on 7th of May in the UK and the 11th May in Europe.
