Norway’s Darkthrone return with their first new studio material since 2013’s The Underground Resistance; the album becoming the band’s most successful release in recent years. Darkthrone’s new album Arctic Thunder, is due for release on 14th October through the UK’s Peaceville Records.
We’re yet to hear the album at ZT HQ (chop, chop!), however, have been advised that Fenriz and Nocturno Culto set about to display their “mastery of ‘the riff'” across Arctic Thunder, which was recorded and produced by the duo themselves at their old rehearsal unit – ‘The Bomb Shelter’ – which they originally used during 1988-1990. Mastering duties were taken on by Jack Control at Enormous Door.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, themes are reportedly based around hate, contempt, and the inner mind and soul, however and perhaps more surprisingly, for the first time in recent years, Nocturno Culto takes on vocal duties across all songs.
We’re reliably informed that more details concerning the eight tracks featured on Arctic Thunder will be available very soon. We’ll report back with more info as it reaches us…
