The end of the year is drawing near and as is customary at this time, Bloodstock festival have announced another batch of bands to play the Catton Hall event for next August.

Making a return to the 2014 edition are Irish celtic/pagan metal heroes, Primordial, who are once again slated for a main stage appearance. Renowned for their powerful atmospheric stage shows, coupled with the fact that they’re not a band who tour extensively, their performance should be down as a must-see on everyone’s tick-list for the weekend.

The Saturday special guest slot has been filled by the mighty Carcass, who have had a very successful year, marking their comeback with the impressive new album Surgical Steel. Once again, 2014 will celebrate the return of the band, who previously performed at Bloodstock in 2009. Vocalist/Bassist Jeff Walker has vowed “unfinished business… CARCASS will return to Bloodstock 2014. With new blood, new album, new songs, we’ll be firing on all cylinders. If you think you’ve already seen this band, think again. We’ll see you come what may in the mud and the rain, there to knock the air out of your inflatable swords and knock the wind out of your sails. Let there be rot!”.

Another act announced for Saturday are Italian alt/goth rockers, Lacuna Coil. Frontwoman Cristina Scabbia had the following to say on the news: “to be back at Bloodstock will be such a blast! I can’t wait to see my family of Coilers in the UK again and to meet new friends. I promise pure damn adrenaline from our stage!! See ya there!”.

With the three headliners already confirmed for 2014, the event is shaping up to be a blinder! Friday night’s bill toppers are NOLA kings, Down. Joining them to close proceedings on Saturday are black metal legends Emperor, and to play us out on Sunday are thrash legends Megadeth. Other acts billed so far are Amon Amarth, Obituary, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Prong, Children Of Bodom, Saxon, Decapitated, Flotsam & Jetsam and Evil Scarecrow.
