Desertfest returns after a pandemic-enforced three-year hiatus on Friday. Among the acts appearing across the assorted Camden venues over the three days are Japanese duo Blacklab. The self-styled ‘Doom witch duo from Osaka’ will be on stage at the Underworld on Friday.
The band have just released a new single from their forthcoming third album – due out in the summer courtesy of New Heavy Sounds.
‘Abyss Woods’ has all the trademark Blacklab sounds, furious fuzzed up riffs, rolling thunder drums and vocals slipping seamlessly from melodic to full on throat shred. Heavy stoner doom as only these two women know how to do.
With production by Jun Morino and mix by Wayne Adams (Big Lad, Green Lung, John, Cold In Berlin) and you have a potent indication of what’s to come on. Check out the new video right here for a psychedelic doom metal overload.
Blacklab will also be playing a special one off free show in London at the Victoria, Dalston on Monday May 2, alongside Black Shape and Wallowing.
