ZT WORLD PREMIERE: HORNDAL – WASTELAND [PROSTHETIC RECORDS]

ZT have teamed up with our friends over at Prosthetic Records to bring you a world premiere from Horndal entitled ‘Wasteland’ and taken from their forthcoming album Remains that comes out 22 February.

Speaking on the release the band stated:

‘Wasteland’ is the first single from our debut album ”Remains” out February 22. We’re honoured to release it on the fine label of Prosthetic Records. The video was shot in old closed steel mill in the Swedish rust belt, a few miles from Horndal. It’s directed by genius filmmaker Jonas Hong Soo Eriksson.”

Distinctly Scandinavian; Horndal fuses the driving rhythms unique to the best of Swedish forward-thinking hardcore whilst preserving the venom of their punk scene alongside the heaviness of the country’s finest. But it’s in the song-writing that Horndal really excel; effortlessly weaving their narrative of urban decay into their dynamic and immediate fist-to-the-face anthems.

Remains’ tells the true horror story of the devil’s destruction of their hometown of Horndal in the 1970’s. A small, industrial centre found amongst the woods of Sweden – the steel mill which was the lifeblood of the community was threatened with closure. This was dramatised in protest as social allegory and depicted the devil casting his shadow over the town to send their exploited workers to an early grave. Sadly, the story came true…the livelihood of the people was indeed closed down and the town was left for dead.

“Anecdote: the intro of the video features the father of the brothers in the band. He also played the devil in a theatre play based on the horrendous events in our hometown back in the late seventies. Rust in peace, – Horndal.”
